I came into contact with 五月天's music during my trips to Taiwan in 1999. The lead singer is also the songwriter. I like their Taiwanese-language tracks more than the Mandarin tracks. Unlike 伍佰's Taiwanese tracks that sound a little country, Mayday's are decidedly urban. All in all, a good rock band with good music. Wubai is good, but another rock band wouldn't hurt. - Bo

8/2/2000: Some call them the #1 band in Taiwan, although I think they still have to vie for that distinction with 伍佰. Good music in general, though most are ballads. But currently it is not possible to break into the East Asian mainstream without writing ballads. Hopefully that will change, but I'm not holding my breath. - Bo
