Their first few CD's were not selling well since Tomoko sings mainly in English. I guess Japanese folks weren't ready for an all-english band from Japan. Besides, Tomoko could put more emphasis on her consonants because I have trouble picking out the syllables she's singing.
Their first mainstream song (as well as subsequent singles) is in Japanese. I did not pay much attention to it back then. But the second one 冷たい花 caught my attention as the opening theme for Countdown TV. That's when I bought their CD. On my 2/99 trip to Taiwan I finally got a chance to see their new promo video for そのスピードで. It's their best one yet. When I found out a video compilation tape has been release I got one. - Bo
I'm sorry…this is one girl that I'd like to STAB UNTIL I DROP! She never smiles, never shows any emotion, and puts up this crappy hair-do after her first appearances (kinda like Kaori from ELT). I cannot stand her. And her music is as indifferenct as she is; no dynamics whatsoever. The monotonous melody makes me wanna bash her head in. The first time I heard her, I would have openly accepted the term 'Alternative', but now she's simply soiling that label. I cannot understand how somebody like that could be a musician.
PS: Nice hair, guys…nice hair… - Jeff
There was ONE appearance when Kawase had bad hair, it's a bit too early to draw conclusions. And you mean to tell me that a song like There will be love there is monotonous? I've heard much worse Alternative coming out of American bands. As if those American so-called avant-garde Alternative singers ever smile. And tbg's music happens to be more melodic than your usual fare. BTW Kaori sports better hairdo nowadays. - Bo
