Alice and Rin
PSME (Bokuchikyuu in Japan) started out as shoujo manga, but managed to attract a large male following. The plot is intricate (convoluted?) and character interaction is superb. The story jumps between Japan and a research base on the moon. Seven characters on earth is somehow tied to another seven on the moon. The relationships will become clear as we progress through the story.

PSME is available as a 6-part OVA or a 21-volume manga series. In the US Viz Communications has acquired the rights and is releasing dubbed VHS. Let's hope a subbed LD series will come out of this. Otherwise I might have to shell out for Japanese import again.

    岡村綾子
    Okamura Ayako
    Tamura's girlfriend and piano teacher. Rin took an interest in her almost immediately because she looks remarkably like Mokulen. Unlike Mokulen, she is a strong-willed woman, and has a way of taming Tamura.

    Ogura Jinpachi
    Jinpachi is a hot-blooded youth. Alice accidentally came across one of Jinpachi and Issei's intimate moments. During the explaination he revealed to her the moon story. Jinpachi has links to Gyokulan on the moon. He has telekinesis abilities.

    笠間春彦
    Kazama Haruhiko
    Haruhiko is a sickly kid with a heart condition. He looks remarkably like Shion. Alice took a liking to him almost immediately. Haruhiko has links to Shuukaido on the moon. He knows how to teleport.

    国生桜
    Kokushou Sakura
    Sakura is friends with Daisuke. She has links to Shusulan on the moon. As best friends with Enju, she feels similar affection for Issei. She looks like Enju.

    Kobayashi Rin
    Rin is a complex character. He likes Alice, yet teases her all the time. After his accident his behavior is even more erratic. The fall has unlocked some memories of Shion that threatens to take over his young mind. Rin has powerful abilities, be it telekinetic or telepathic. He looks like Shuukaido.

    Sakaguchi Alice
    Like Mokulen, Alice is a weak girl. She always get teases to tears by Rin. Yet she always feels a special connection to him. Like Mokulen, she can communicate with plants and animals. Alice looks like Mokulen's mother.

    Tamura Kazuto
    Tamura is Kazama Haruhiko's protector. Without Tamura, Haruhiko would already be dead. He has past dealings with the yakuza. They'll come back to haunt him.

    Dobashi Daisuke
    Daisuke is friends with Sakura. He has great sense of responsibility. A by-the-book kind of guy, just like Hiiragi.

    Issei is a feminine-looking guy who wears his hair like Shusulan. He is haunted by dreams where he is Enju. Issei has telepathic abilities.

    Mikuro is an Earth-born ESP. Tamura enlisted his help against Shion's schemes.

    Rin's mother
    Rin's mother is a warm, gentle person. She tries her best to understand what Rin is going through. In a way, she is what Shion always wanted but never had.

    Hajime is Alice's little brother. He takes care of his weak sister. In many ways he is like Mokulen's dearest friend, Mode.

    Enju
    Enju has a crush on Gyokulan, but Gyokulan has his eyes on someone else. Enju's relationship with Gyokulan will always be kataomoi. Unlike most other females, she doesn't go into a jealous rage but just quietly accepts it. Whether this is a good thing is debatable. After her death she reincarnated as a male, Issei.

    Gyokulan
    Gyokulan was in constant competition with Shion. What he wants, Shion takes. He has great respect for Shion and wants to be friends, yet he cannot stand Shion's attitude. Gyokulan has great telekinetic abilities but does not have fine control. He wears a special earring to dampen his powers. His rivalry with Shion will reach a boiling point on the moon.

    Shion
    Shion is an orphan unlike everyone else save possibly Mokulen. After his parents' death the government sees great value in his abilities and provided for him. He feels contempt against anyone living a happy life. His best Gyokulan tried to share some of the family warmth, but all Shion felt was contempt. But Mokulen changed all that. In a way she was very much like him. After his death he reincarnated in likeness of Shuukaido. It was due to Shuukaido that he suffered so, and his contemptious fixation on him led him to choose that form.

    Shuukaido
    Shuukaido is Shion and Gyokulan's junior back in school. He feel respect toward both of them, but tends toward Gyokulan's side due to Shion's unapproachable behavior. On the moon he committed a heinous deed again Shion. Now Shion has come back for retribution. He was always jealous of Mokulen and Shion's affection toward each other. So after death he reincarnated in likeness of Shion.

    Shusulan
    Shusulan was Enju's best friend. Before transferring to the moon base she was dumped by her long-time boyfriend. From then on she distrusts men.

    Hiiragi
    Hiiragi is an exceptional linguist and the leader of the research mission on the moon base. He has a strong sense of responsibility and does things by the book. During "the crisis" he wavered and made a bad command decision that led to Shion and Gyokulan's altercation.

    木蓮
    Mokulen
    Mokulen is one of the rarest of rare Kichess. Kichess has the power to make all planetary life fourish or die. The government sees that as a powerful weapon. All Kichess are acquired at the age of three for training. Her parents died not long afterwards. It is said that when a Kichess loses his/her virginity they also lose the power. Her parents is a rare case in that they are both Kichess. Mokulen is therefore something special, as conventional rules don't apply to her. Mokulen feels deeply about her mother. Thus after reincarnating she took on her form.

    Kya & Lazlo
    Kya and Lazlo were the closest thing Shion ever had to a family. Although assigned by the government, Lazlo was very happy to take care of the child. He patiently guided Shion away from his bitter ways. Shion was close to opening his heart when Lazlo died in an auto accident. Shion's heart will remain closed until the coming of Mokulen. Kya is a kitten that seems huge compared with the aliens. It lived with Lazlo and Shion until Lazlo's death. As it is highly empathetic, shortly afterwards it died.
