Maison Ikkoku is a tale of a ronin (Godai Yuusaku) and his (semi)unyielding devotion to his object d'amour, Otonashi Kyoko. Like any good story, there exists obstacles aplenty. Throughout the story we see the Godai and Kyoko's steady growth of character. Always with good intentions and tries his best, Godai grew from a clumsy immature Ronin to a responsible adult. Kyoko had to overcome the death of her late husband. A true classic by the master. Although this is old (mid 80's), I still rate this above most newer stuff available.
Maison Ikkoku is available in as a 96-eps TV series and a 15-volume manga series (10 if you have deluxe version). In the US Viz Communications has acquired the rights and is releasing VHS and manga. At their current pace, I'd be lucky to get them all before I hit 40. So I took advantage of the 1996 Japanese LD repress and got them all. Cost me an arm & leg but at least I didn't go insane while waiting for Viz.
