Ichinose pushes Kanrinin-san to an omiai while Godai takes the exams. But Kanrinin-san seems pre-occupied with Godai's exam schedule. To her Godai feels like a bumbling little brother, and can't help but be personally involved. But Ichinose enjoys twisting the situation and shoving it back in her face.

Godai has been missing for a week since the exams. But now the scores are to be posted. His grandma comes to Tokyo to checks up on him. If he flunks he will have to return home and forget about college since they don't have the money to support him indefinitely.

The owner of Ikkokan came for a visit. Tagging along is his grandaughter Ikuko. She calls Kanrinin-san auntie, while she calls the owner father. What's the relationship? What's so important about this day? And just who is this Soichiro guy anyway? It will all become clear to Godai, maybe.

Godai has trouble differentiating between Kanrinin's late husband and the dumb white dog. Ikuko demands to have Godai as her tutor. Kyoko relents, but is still uneasy.

Under the soothing influence of alcohol, Godai finally declared to all the neighbors that he is in love with Kyoko-san. This is the first time he uttered the word "Kyoko" in public. Then before he can consummate the relationship he fell asleep. What followed the next day is enough to turn him inside out.

After the 'love call' debacle, Kyoko has steadfastly refused to speak to Godai. Sensing a need to push her along, Ichinose recommends tennis lessons for Kyoko. The coach is a handsome and successful young man named Mitaka. Mitaka makes a move on her immediately as Godai watches helplessly on the other side of the fence.

Godai finally gets to play in a doubles match. After the game, everybody goes to Chachamaru where the two rivals size each other up. Mitaka also expresses his willingness to wait Kyoko out. The situation looks hopeless for Godai.

Godai promises Kentaro that he'll take him to the beach during Summertime. Ikuko and Kyoko would also like to go. Alas, Ichinose recruited Mitaka to drive them there. But thanks to this and an unexpected passenger Soichiro-san, Godai discovers a crippling weakness in Mitaka's shiny armor or success.

Thanks to Soichiro-san, Mitaka's day at the beach is a total nightmare. Kyoko and Godai have a swim together. They have small argument but quickly resolves it. On the way back everyone gets a taste of Kyoko's Formula 1 driving skill.

Ikuko comes over for a tutoring lesson. Ichinose finds Kentaro sitting on the staircase. It turns out he has a crush on Ikuko. Ikuko, as usual, starts the lesson by asking about Godai's love life. Godai gets unwittingly pulled into it when Kyoko showed up with Kentaro. Hearing about Godai's love life leaves Kyoko in a puzzling silent rage. Jealousy storm? Kyoko later makes dinner for them, but Godai's bliss is suddenly squashed by the mere mention of Soichiro.

Godai wants to invite Kyoko to a date, but it turns out Mitaka gets first dibs on her today. Godai ends up going with a coworker named Kozue. Kyoko gets the impression that Godai already has a girlfriend, and was only playing with her (mazui).

Godai gets tricked into helping out the puppeteering club. As a result Kyoko has to field a rising volume of calls from mischievous female club members. Godai goes on a date with Kozue where an interesing event occurs (lover's quarrel?). Ichinose passes the information on to Kyoko and she gets even more incensed. How will Godai explain himself out of this?
